INDIVIDUAL READING ASSESSMENT

January 20, 2010
Tuesday
7:00-11:30

I almost spent four hours i my second observation in sixth grade teacher and students. I was amazed how the teacher discipline her students by the form of reciting tongue twister (peter piper) when they are so noisy. The teacher told me that this week is for the individual reading assessment of the school for every grade level. While the teacher is conducting her one on one reading assessment she left her students some activity. The purpose of reading assessment is to measure the cognitive development of her student by timing them to know who are the fast and slow reader. And after that she gave some evaluation or comprehension to measure if the student understand what she/he read. She looked to see whether each student did well, fair, poor on the assessment. She paid attention to whether or not a student was improving, and she gave each student some feedback.

MY FIRST OBSERVATION AT PANSOL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

January 21, 2010
Thursday
9:30-11:30

I have spent two hours observing sixth grade teacher who teaches Math and English at Pansol Elementary school. While I was observing this sixth grade teacher and students, I took notes and paid attention to what topic the teacher was teaching and how she presenting the topic to her class. I then examined the teacher's lesson plan to see if the teacher herself understood the subject matter. Then I looked at her and her students to see if they had a connection.
I observed the sixth grade teacher at work with her students. I have learned that learning is very hard, and i saw how one action could relate to every one of knowledge. Even though being a teacher is more difficult than I expected, I still hope to be one of them.
